If you live in Pueblo Colorado or are visiting and you’re looking for the best bike rides, this blog is for you!

Lake Pueblo State Park

Lake Pueblo State Park had all the multi use paths repaved just a few years ago. The surface is smooth and in great shape! The paths lead to and from the campgrounds, take you past the dam and to either of the 2 marinas. Beyond the main part of the park you can also access the Swim Beach area, the fishing pond, and ultimately connect to a very nice trail that follow along the Arkansas River! This connects to the second ride on our list. If you park outside of the state park and ride in you will not have to buy a pass as of the date of this blog. If you want to park inside the park you must have a day pass or a yearly parks pass.

Arkansas River Trail

The Arkansas River Trail is one of the best I’ve ridden. The views along the river are so peaceful and scenic. The trail takes you from Lake Pueblo, past the Wildlife and Discovery Center (formerly known as the Nature Center), into downtown Pueblo, past Runyon Lake and then diverts to follow along Fountain Creek all the way to Colorado State University! There are several spots to park and access the trail. Good free parking is located on 11th Street and Pueblo Blvd. on the Southwest corner of the intersection.

Pueblo Colorado Best Bike Rides – Test Track

You may or may not know that there is a train test facility located East of the city of Pueblo in the Airport Industrial Area. It may surprise you that there is a FANTASTIC 30 ish mile ride (out and back) along the road to the test facility. Since this road dead ends there is little traffic, especially on the weekends! You can park near the Target Distribution Center (34800 E United Ave. 81001) and ride the road until it ends at the train test track.

Pueblo Colorado Best Bike Rides – Southshore Trails

If you’re more into mountain biking then you MUST check out the trails on the South shore of Lake Pueblo! With over 30 miles of single track you’ll enjoy hours of wonderful riding year round! The mild climate of Pueblo allows for riding during all months of the year. Be sure to check out Southern Colorado Trailbuilders website and also the Facebook page for the most up to date information on trail conditions. Be sure to join and support the cause while you’re there! The Southern Colorado Trailbuilders are helping to grow the list of best bike rides in Pueblo Colorado and they will appreciate your support!

It’s best to park at the Southshore Marina parking areas to access these trails. Don’t forget you’ll need a parks pass to access the parking area. A day pass is around 9 dollars and helps support Lake Pueblo State Park.
